Com.It.Es South Australia is currently completing important research in the area of young-Italians abroad led by Prof Angela Scarino (Chair of our Language and Research sub-committee).

This project is entitled Being and becoming an Italian: the perspective of youth which aims to capture the perspective and affiliation of young people with the Italian language and culture.

This small-scale, pilot investigation addresses the question of how young people (aged 8-18) see their participation in and learning of Italian language and culture. The question arises from the recognition that the young people participating in and learning Italian language and culture are generationally removed from the migration history of previous generations. In addition, the Italian language and culture now permeates all aspects of contemporary Australian society while at the same time, with globalisation and technological advances Italy has expanded its efforts with respect to l’italiano nel mondo.

The survey is now live and it will close on 31 October. Here is the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9NHF7LT.
