It is with great pleasure that Com.It.Es South Australia has been told that Flinders University has reversed and the Italian department and teaching of Italian will continue as per normal.

After starting this cause nearly 3-weeks ago we raised a huge amount of community awareness with over 4,000 signatures to our online petition received. Com.It.Es South Australia wrote to the Vice Chancellor Prof Stirling last week with our signatures outlining the importance to continue on with the teaching of Italian. We also had a lot of support from our local MPs, such as John Gardner MP, Vincent Tarzia MP,  Susan Close MP, Frank Pangallo MLC and Steve Georganas MP whom all wrote to the University supporting our important cause, along with the Consul of Italy Adriano Stendardo.

Com.It.Es South Australia is thankful to the Italian community for supporting this important and worthwhile cause, but it is important to note that we must continue to promote Italian to ensure it is protected for years to come.

With the ComItEs elections nearby, the committee is proud to have taken up this fight with the local Italian community to protect something important for us and for future generations to come. It has been our pleasure to serve the Italian community. 🇮🇹🥂

Grazie a tutti 🥰
